My Reset Journey
June 2019 was a BUSY start to summer. We had baseball, dance, my birthday, my daughter's birthday, town celebrations, sports camps, etc. You name it, we were doing it! I was not feeling my best anymore, I had let the old snacking habits catch up with me, I was eating healthy but not in my proper portions and I was just in a rut with my nutrition. I knew I could feel better, mentally and physically so I decided to take action.
On that first Monday of June, my 36th birthday, I started a 3 week nutrition program that I had done before and knew would change the game for me. That program was called the Ultimate Reset.
It's a 3 week program that takes you on a nutrition journey to reset your system back to "default." Working on removing the toxins, waste, improves nutrient absorption and helps you consciously fuel your body.
It's not just a "cleanse" - although you will experience those benefits. It's a no-starvation, multifaceted, life-changing, cutting-edge, "this is the real deal" inner body tune up so you can live and feel your best!
Week 1: Reclaim
In the first week, Phase One, you reclaim your body, accessing its inner chemistry and preparing it for change. You gradually remove foods such as red meat and dairy, which are known to place stress on the digestive system, from your diet for the duration of the Reset.
I loved this phase! It was just the plan I needed to get back to basics and feel in control of how I was feeling and get excited about improving me again. Some people experience headaches this first week due to going cold turkey on their preferred vices or the start of the withdrawl phase for those that were dependent on things. I was just really tired this week. I had gotten super dependent on another of our products Energize that I was lacking in the sleep department. Energize is wonderful for a quick burst of natural energy thru green tea extract, helping you get more out of your workout and that little afternoon pick me up, but not the best for a daily pick me up like I was doing far too often. After I got more sleep though I was fine!
My favorite recipes were:
Breakfast: oatmeal w/ blueberries
Lunch: Microgreen salad, with a variety of veggies and my homemade salad dressing.
Dinner: the Southwestern Veggie Tacos, nori rolls, Roasted Root Medley (that I enjoyed multiple weeks) and of course Stir Fry Veggies that I just love in general.
I worked out every day except 1. I was just SO TIRED and took the cue from my body to rest. It is recommended that you don't workout while doing the Reset due to the fact that your body is getting a serious inner workout, but moving is my overall stress relief and energy generator. I knew I just couldn't sit still.
Week 2: Release In the second week, Phase Two, you begin to Release unwanted compounds that have been holding your system back and start the detoxification process. This phase includes a gentle colon cleanse and digestive support supplement. You move into a full vegetarian diet.
This week was amazing, we had 3 nights of baseball, a weekend baseball tournament, and I had a board meeting. The days & the nights were full of kids activities. That didn't stop me though from getting my food planned and prepared to take along. This week I also took out all meat and started the detox supplements packets 3x a day. They really aren't as bad as people would think. It's all natural fiber that is designed to soak up all the toxins and safely remove them from your body. It is about 30 seconds of mix, swirl and chug a few times a day. :-) it has a good lemony scent so it was easier than other times I've taken it.
My favorite recipes were:
Breakfast: 3 cups of fruit and greek yogurt.
Lunch: Microgreen salad, with a variety of veggies and my homemade salad dressing. I also added in a single serving of avocado cups to get in a healthy fat and 2/3 cup of quinoa for my carb. I added in a serving of the Sweet potato & Roasted Red Pepper bisque on a few days as well.
Dinner: The Asian Stir Fry veggies with Sweet potato & Roasted Red Pepper bisque was my go to. When I ran out of soup, I just swapped in 1/2 a sweet potato. I continued to workout and my energy this week was super awesome despite the chaotic schedule.
Week 3: Restore In Phase Three, the third week, you help your body Restore your digestive system, along with other internal processes, to maximum efficiency, putting nutrients, enzymes, and pre and pro bionics back into your body. You cut out all grains and now are eating mostly fruits and veggies. People often ask me if I was getting sick of the same salad everyday and honestly my answer is always no. Not only do I mix it up so it's not always the same mix of greens and veggies, but I also really love salads. Raw foods are MUCH better for you than cooked b/c there are more nutrients in them and they are in their natural state. So bring on the veggie bowls!
Meals this week were super simple and very repetitive, but they are super delicious so no complaints from me. Breakfast: 3 cups of fruit as a variety of berries, melons and grapes. (basically whatever the kids hadn't snarfed down the day before) ;-) It has been difficult keeping fresh fruit in the fridge this summer! I really thought I might miss the yogurt, but I haven't. I'm curious to add it back into my meal plan next week and see how my body responds.
Lunch: Microgreen salad, with a variety of veggies and my homemade salad dressing. I did use the guac cups a few days for a variety of flavor and it was my "extra" for working out. Otherwise, it was all the same!
Dinner: Stir fry veggies all the way. I love mixing up what veggies go in the fry pan with a little water to steam up to brightly colored and softened deliciousness. It's usually whatever I have on hand, but it's always good! (so simple!) I added in 1/2 a baked sweet potato for added sustenance I felt so strong and lean this last week. My body was responding beautifully to being cleaned out and felt so good. I was sleeping like a rock since the first week and that's continued for sure. I'm excited to say I lost 12.6lbs and 9 inches overall on my body. I know I won't keep off all the weight as I start to add foods back into my daily intake, but I also know how to fuel myself now to feel my best.
